Sport: FIGURE SKATING
Country: FRANCE
Zodiac Sign: VIRGO
Birth Date: SEPTEMBER, 20, 1984

Born in 1984, Brian Joubert is a world figure skating champion. In 2007, he became a World and European Champion in the sport and in 2006, he was the French National Champion and the Grand Prix Champion. One of the reasons Brian chose figure skating as opposed to more aggressive sports was the fact he only has one kidney after suffering a life-threatening illness when he was only 11 months old. He began skating at four years old, inspired by his older sisters' forays into the sport, and became the greatest skater in the family. His parents and sisters encouraged Joubert in his quest to become a great figure skater, and he received the best training available having shown remarkable talent at an early age.

Brian Joubert is known not only for his greatness as a figure skater, but for his camera-friendly face and likeable personality. He is involved in charitable causes, most notably, as an advocate for children with Williams Syndrome. The disease is still not widely known, and Joubert continues to play a pivotal role in expanding awareness about this terrible disease which affects many children around the world every year. Having suffered a severe ailment himself in childhood, Joubert has become a spokesman on behalf of these children as the search continues for a cure and improvements in medical care.

Brian Joubert is admired greatly in France and his face has graced the cover of many magazines. Many a French schoolgirl admits to having a crush on Brian Joubert, and he shared his reputation for good looks with his former girlfriend, Miss France, Laetita Bleger. However, after the breakup, Bleger alleged that Joubert was a homosexual and the relationship was simply a ploy to disguise the fact. Joubert sued Bleger for a significant sum for tarnishing his name, and he won the lawsuit. Although many in France still remember this lawsuit and the controversy, the issue did little to affect Joubert's reputation and popularity, and he is still a widely-admired public figure in France.

Joubert burst onto the scene in 2002 when he won the European Championships and continued his success at the 2002 Olympics, when he received a Bronze medal. In 2004, he was the first World Champion figure skater from France in 40 years, but in the 2006 Olympics, he placed sixth. Joubert is currently working on aspects of his skating which have hurt his performance in the past and is expected to improve his performance greatly and recapture his glory, and perhaps some of his titles.

Brian Joubert is known for his strong jump and quadruple toe loop. His weakness is his lack of variety in his spins, but he is working with a coach to improve this area of his performance. Since Joubert is fairly young, he could make a comeback and garner more awards in the near future. Joubert has a significant number of fans in France and around the world who see his jumps as an example of fantastic, exciting skating and are ready to see more victories from Brian Joubert.
