Becoming a Successful Male Model
Male models are gaining more and more importance in the fashion world and have the same chances to be famous as female models do and for a long period of time.
What is a model?
A model is a person who is posed or displayed for the purpose of art, fashion or other products and advertising. Types of models include fitness, fashion, swimwear, fine-art, and body-part models. All the models may not necessarily be beautiful or handsome: character models portray ordinary people and humorous types, mostly in print work and in commercials.
Do you have what it takes?
Modeling is not just about famous faces. You really need to find out if you have what it takes; the right height, physique, talent, face, etc. to know whether you can even be a male model at all.
Be confident!
Don’t allow anybody to look down on you. Be confident about your looks and your ability. Don’t let people tell you what you cannot do. You cannot be a successful male model if you are not confident. Try to copy some of the poses and fixtures that other models carry off, but only do this when starting out, as you can’t build up a career based on someone else’s footprints. It’s best to have a full length mirror on your wall or something like that because you can just stand in front of it for as long as you need to, practicing new pouts and stances.
Find the right agent
Finding the right agent to promote you is essential. Don’t be put off by other people including modeling agencies and fashion guru’s, they may have massive information about modeling but you need to savor their critical comments to make you stronger as a person and as a male model.
When looking for an agent you need to be very determined and persistent. Finding the right agent does not always come easy. You will have to get yourself photographed by a professional, so that you will have professional shots and then send the best. You have to build up a great portfolio to send agencies.
Which one is right for you?
There are so many agencies, and they all have different requirements and specialize in different fields. How are you, as a starting model, supposed to know which one is the best for you? It’s not as difficult as it may seem. The most important thing is to decide what is modeling for you. What is your priority: modeling or your education, job, some other activity? How much time are you ready to spend for your modeling career? Is it what you want to do for the rest of your life, or is it just a hobby? Are you able to travel abroad from time to time, or you would like to do modeling only on the local level? Just when you answer all these questions you’ll be able to choose the agency that is best for you and your needs.
Overall if you have what it takes you can be successful male model. Be consistent, persistent, never give up, and expect some rejections but stay true to yourself. It’s only a matter of time you will achieve your dream of becoming a successful male model.
