Exercise or Plastic Surgery
It is a sad indication of our society where so many people are dissatisfied and unhappy with their body, their image and suffer from low self-esteem. No matter where we look, we are constantly bombarded with images and propaganda all of which revolve around one central theme: perfection. Cosmetic surgery has grown at an exponential rate, as more and more people resort to drastic measures to try and boost their flagging egos and self-esteem. This is not intended as a condemnation of cosmetic surgery of itself, as there is nothing inherently wrong with it. However, when people use it as a means of trying to fix some deeper rooted issue in their life that is when there is cause for concern.
Cosmetic surgery is an extremely drastic measure to resort to, and there are less dangerous, costly procedures and one of the most effective means of achieving the same great results achieved by cosmetic surgery is with an exercise regime. Sure, it requires commitment and hard work on your part, but it is certainly worth it as you have an excellent physique to be proud of, and one you can be proud of because you worked for it. Exercise will also help your low mood in another significant way: by the production and stimulation of endorphins which are the body’s natural painkillers and “feel good” chemicals. To draw a comparison as to the respective power of the endorphins, similar chemicals are contained within chocolate, and heroin. They are also released during the moment of climax of sexual intercourse.
You may find that your enthusiasm for your exercise regime may peter out after a short while, so in order to beat this self-defeating attitude make sure you go to the gym with a friend. Having a gym partner is an excellent way of motivating yourself and ensuring that you do not simply throw in the towel at the last moment. Having a friend at the gym can also help to break up the monotony of exercising, let’s face it, exercise is not the most engaging past time that there is!
Make sure that you have a clearly defined schedule and exercise regime for when you do actually go the gym so as to ensure that you do not waste your time, and also to help ensure that you maximize your workout. Make sure you chart your progress for each successful visit, not only will this help you chart your progress much easier but it will also act as a powerful motivator to help spur you on! Being well aware of what you do, the progress you have made will help make your work seem all the more “real”, and rather than being an arbitrary process which makes you sweat, you can enjoy and appreciate the benefits.
